Numerical simulation of compaction parameters for sand-filled embankment using large thickness sand filling

摘要: The study uses the finite element method to simulate a new technique of highway sand embankment filling in Jianghan Plain district, which can raise the thickness of sand-filled layer from 30 cm to 70 cm and can significantly shorten the construction period based on the guarantee of sand embankment construction quality. After simulating the three compacting proposals carried out on the field test, the study uses COMSOL software to research on the compacting effects of sand-filled layers in larger thicknesses by 22 ton vibratory roller alone, and then to investigate the steady compacting effect of 12 ton vibratory roller. The simulation results indicate that the sand-filled layer thickness of 70 cm is suitable for the new sand filling technique, and the sand-filled embankment project with tight construction period is suggested to choose the 12 ton vibration roller for steady compaction.

Field investigation of intelligent compaction for hot mix asphalt resurfacing

摘要:

Intelligent compaction (IC) is a relatively new technology for asphalt paving industry. The present study evaluated the effectiveness and potential issues of the IC technology for flexible pavement resurfacing construction using two field projects. In the first project, a geostatistical semivariogram model was established and the parameters derived from it were compared with univariate statistical parameters for the Compaction Meter Value (CMV) data. Further analyses illustrated the effect of temperature on the CMV value and compaction uniformity. In the second project, a multivariate analysis was performed between in situ tests and IC data. The possibility of combining various IC data to predict the asphalt layer density and improve the current quality control and assurance system was discussed.

Experimental research on compaction characteristics of aeolian sand

摘要: Unlike other road materials, aeolian sand has some compaction characteristics that are key factors in construction qualities of highway in the desert. In order to study the characteristics, a series of laboratory and field tests were performed, including sieve analysis, standard modified compaction, vibrating compaction and field test. By analyzing the sieve analysis test data, it was found that the gradation of aeolian sand was bad, with fine grains whose diameters mostly ranged from 0.25 mm to 0.074 mm. Then, from the laboratory compaction test results, a compaction curve similar to the horizontally-written letter S was obtained. That was quite different from the other kinds of road materials. There were two peak values in the curve with the increase of water content, which was the special characteristic of aeolian sand: to be well compacted whether it was dry or wet. Also, according to laboratory vibrating test results, the best vibrating frequency range was proposed. It was from 45 Hz to 50 Hz. Moreover, some field compaction tests were carried out. On the construction site of the highway, the aeolian sand subgrade was compacted in the condition of natural water content with optimizing construction machines. Its compaction degree reached 96%, meeting the current specifications. At last, comparative studies were carried through with electron microscope. It was shown that the microstructure of compacted dry aeolian sand is much denser than that of the natural one in the field test.

Coulomb-type solutions for passive earth pressure with steady seepage

摘要: Present paper deals with the computing of passive earth pressure acting on the vertical rigid retaining wall supporting the soil mass subjected to water seepage. The basic assumptions of Coulomb’s theory and the 2-dimensional steady flow function are used. Three Coulomb-type solutions for the passive earth pressures are presented for the walls provided with three different drainage systems respectively. Based on the general solutions, the variations of the critical inclination of the failure surface and the coefficient of passive earth pressure with increasing the effective friction angle of the soil mass, the soil/structure friction angle, and the water/soil unit weight ratio are discussed. Two tables with values of the coefficients of passive earth pressure for Cases 1 and 3 respectively are also presented.

Effect of steady shear on multi-axial texture of symmetric diblock copolymers

摘要: The effect of steady shear on multi-axial texture of symmetric diblock copolymer was investigated by using dynamic density functional theory. Through modifying the periodic boundary condition, the parallel-transverse biaxial texture and perpendicular-parallel-transverse triaxial texture have been observed. In the formation of the multi-axial texture, there are two critical velocities μ and µ, at which the transition between the perpendicular and the parallel lamellar morphology, and the transition between the parallel and the transverse lamellar morphology occur, respectively. The two critical velocities increase as the interaction parameter increases, but they almost remain constant at different shear rates. Furthermore, the rotation from the transverse lamellae to the parallel lamellae induced by the shear strain, and the increase of lamellar spacings of the three lamellae after removing the shear, have also been observed by the time evolution of the morphologies. These phenomena are consistent with experimental work.

Automated synthesis of steady-state continuous processes using reinforcement learning

摘要: Automated flowsheet synthesis is an important field in computer-aided process engineering. The present work demonstrates how reinforcement learning can be used for automated flowsheet synthesis without any heuristics or prior knowledge of conceptual design. The environment consists of a steady-state flowsheet simulator that contains all physical knowledge. An agent is trained to take discrete actions and sequentially build up flowsheets that solve a given process problem. A novel method named SynGameZero is developed to ensure good exploration schemes in the complex problem. Therein, flowsheet synthesis is modelled as a game of two competing players. The agent plays this game against itself during training and consists of an artificial neural network and a tree search for forward planning. The method is applied successfully to a reaction-distillation process in a quaternary system.

高心墙堆石坝坝面碾压施工仿真理论与应用

摘要:

在对高心墙堆石坝坝面碾压系统进行全面分析的基础上,提出了以填筑单元为仿真单位的碾压施工仿真理论,建立了能够反映碾压过程中不确定因素的精细化仿真模型,保证仿真贴近实际施工。研究成果在糯扎渡心墙堆石坝工程的填筑单元中得到了应用,验证了方法的可靠性,对于大坝现场碾压施工具有指导意义,为工程进度控制和管理提供了技术支持。

Modeling and analysis of steady-state vibration induced by backlash in servo rotary table

摘要:

Backlash cannot be always avoided in mechanical systems because of wear or looseness. Steady-state vibration may be induced by backlash in closed loop feed drive systems. This paper presents a mathematical model of a servo rotary table, considering the effect of backlash. The accuracy of this model is verified by an experiment. The influences of the parameters, such as position controller gain, velocity controller gain, load and the magnitude of backlash, on steady-state vibration are discussed. The steady-state vibration amplitude increases with the position controller gain, load and the magnitude of backlash. The steady-state vibration frequency increases with the position controller gain and the velocity controller gain, while an increase in load leads to a decrease in the frequency.

A study on fatigue damage of asphalt mixture under different compaction using 3D-microstructural characteristics

摘要: The aim of this paper is investigating the microstructural characteristics of asphalt mixture under different compaction powers. In order to achieve this aim, a test track was built to provide asphalt mixture specimens and X-ray computed tomography (XCT) device was used to scan the internal structure. The aggregate particles and air-voids were extracted using Digital Image Processing (DIP), so the relationship between compaction and air-voids was determined at first, and then, the effect of aggregate particles on the morphology of air-voids can be evaluated, finally, fatigue properties of asphalt mixture with different air-void ratio were measured by indirect tensile fatigue test as well. The research results release the distribution of microstructures in asphalt pavement. 3D fractal dimension is an effective indicator to quantize the complexity of aggregate particles and air-voids; suffering the same compaction power, aggregates cause different constitutions of air-voids in asphalt mixture; investigation in this paper can present the essential relationship between microstructures and fatigue properties.

Experimental study on compaction-induced anisotropic mechanical property of rockfill material

摘要: The anisotropy of rockfill materials has a significant influence on the performance of engineering structures. However, relevant research data are very limited, because of the difficulty with preparing specimens with different inclination angles using traditional methods. Furthermore, the anisotropy test of rockfill materials is complex and complicated, especially for triaxial tests, in which the major principal stress plane intersects with the compaction plane at different angles. In this study, the geometric characteristics of a typical particle fraction consisting of a specific rockfill material were statistically investigated, and the distribution characteristics of particle orientation in specimens prepared via different compaction methods were examined. For high-density rockfill materials, a set of specimen preparation devices for inclined compaction planes was developed, and a series of conventional triaxial compression tests with different principal stress direction angles were conducted. The results reveal that the principal stress direction angle has a significant effect on the modulus, shear strength, and dilatancy of the compacted rockfill materials. Analysis of the relationship between the principal stress direction angles, change in the stress state, and change in the corresponding dominant shear plane shows that the angle between the compacted surface and dominant shear plane is closely related to interlocking resistance associated with the particle orientation. In addition, different principal stress direction angles can change the extent of the particle interlocking effect, causing the specimen to exhibit different degrees of anisotropy.

高碾压混凝土坝智能碾压理论研究

摘要:

给出了高碾压混凝土坝智能碾压的概念及实现过程,提出了大坝实时监控和智能反馈控制的原理;在实时分析压实指标的基础上,建立了大坝压实质量多元回归模型,进而提出了碾压混凝土坝压实度全仓面实时评价方法;实现了施工过程中碾压机工作性态的自适应调整,确保碾压机速度、激振力、碾压遍数和压实厚度等全过程达标,可有效保证碾压质量,提高施工效率,为碾压混凝土坝建设质量控制提供了一条新的途径。

Effect of dilution rate on dynamic and steady-state biofilm characteristics during phenol biodegradation

摘要: Continuous pulsed plate bioreactor (PPBR) was used for phenol biodegradation. cells immobilized on granular activated carbon was used. Dynamic and steady state biofilm characteristics depend on dilution rate (DR). Lower DR favour phenol degradation and uniform, thick biofilm formation. Exo polymeric substance production in biofilm are favoured at lower dilution rates. Pulsed plate bioreactor (PPBR) is a biofilm reactor which has been proven to be very efficient in phenol biodegradation. The present paper reports the studies on the effect of dilution rate on the physical, chemical and morphological characteristics of biofilms formed by the cells of Pseudomonas desmolyticum on granular activated carbon (GAC) in PPBR during biodegradation of phenol. The percentage degradation of phenol decreased from 99% to 73% with an increase in dilution rate from 0.33 h?1 to 0.99 h?1 showing that residence time in the reactor governs the phenol removal efficiency rather than the external mass transfer limitations. Lower dilution rates favor higher production of biomass, extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) as well as the protein, carbohydrate and humic substances content of EPS. Increase in dilution rate leads to decrease in biofilm thickness, biofilm dry density, and attached dry biomass, transforming the biofilm from dense, smooth compact structure to a rough and patchy structure. Thus, the performance of PPBR in terms of dynamic and steady-state biofilm characteristics associated with phenol biodegradation is a strong function of dilution rate. Operation of PPBR at lower dilution rates is recommended for continuous biologic treatment of wastewaters for phenol removal.

Development of a steady thermal-hydraulic analysis code for the China Advanced Research Reactor

摘要: A multi-channel model steady-state thermal-hydraulic analysis code was developed for the China Advanced Research Reactor (CARR). By simulating the whole reactor core, the detailed mass flow distribution in the core was obtained. The result shows that structure size plays the most important role in mass flow distribution, and the influence of core power could be neglected under single-phase flow. The temperature field of the fuel element under unsymmetrical cooling condition was also obtained, which is necessary for further study such as stress analysis, etc. of the fuel element. At the same time, considering the hot channel effect including engineering factor and nuclear factor, calculation of the mean and hot channel was carried out and it is proved that all thermal-hydraulic parameters satisfy the Safety design regulation of CARR .

城市给水管网恒定流和瞬变流数学模型研究

摘要:

首先基于节点方程法,建立了给水管网恒定流数学模型,并采用经改进的牛顿迭代法实现了对模型的求解;其次由特征线法建立了给水管网瞬变流数学模型,可预测管网运行中出现的有害水击,并求得可能出现的最大(最小)水压及其相应发生的位置。实例研究表明,建立的模型是可靠的,且具有计算速度快、精度高等优点,可以用于城市给水管网的水力平衡数值模拟研究和为设计者防护水击所采取的措施提供理论依据。

高压VDMOS的一种高精度静态物理模型

摘要:

提出了高压VDMOS的一种高精度静态物理模型(HASPM)。在该模型中,基于更为合理的假设而使得用解析方法求得了双扩散沟道区中的电场和电压;通过深入研究VDMOS 内部的物理特性,给出了一个关于漂移区电场的微分方程,并在整个漂移区都用解析方法求解了该微分方程,由此求得了漂移区的电压降。计算结果表明, 该模型在漏端电流接近饱和处的稳定性有较大提高,具有较高的计算精度,特别是在栅电压与漏电压都比较大的情况下,其计算精度有较大程度的提高。
